Bob Silva

Bob Silva , director of technology transfer at Ohio University, is retiring on 1 June, though he has already stepped down from active service and will spend the next six months on leave.

Silva has been with Ohio University since November 2010 and has been credited by the institution as “a cornerstone of the technology transfer office”, which sits within the bigger Division of Research and Creative Activity.

Korie Sell, technology commercialisation manager, will now handle enquiries related to technology transfer, working closely with Jason Jolley, interim associate vice president for research partnerships, and the wider team of the Division of Research and Creative Activity.

“We are deeply grateful for Bob’s dedicated service and the lasting impact he has made on Ohio University. His leadership and vision have been instrumental in driving innovation and supporting our mission.”

Eric Muth, vice president for research and creative activity

Silva had joined Ohio University from research and development organisation Batelle, where he had been a technology commercialisation manager since August 2000.

Earlier in his career, he was the president of computer services and telecoms marketing startup Knovation, created by Lockheed Martin and Mundo Communications Network, from January 1999 to July 2000.

Before this, he served as vice president of operations and general manager of RJ Lee Solutions – a subsidiary of industrial forensics analytical laboratory and scientific consulting firm RJ Lee Group – set up to commercialise custom laboratory information management system software.
