Monash University has recruited Andrea Huggins as vice president for innovation and commercialisation.
Huggins joins from biopharmaceutical group CSL Behring, where she has worked for more than 21 years. Most recently, she has served as its vice president, head of global business development and licensing.
At Monash University, she joins a leadership team that also includes Robyn Ward, deputy vice chancellor for research and enterprise and senior vice president, and Ingmar Wahlqvist, the acting chief commercialisation officer.
Details about Huggins are sparse: she does not appear to be using LinkedIn, and The Next Leap could not find a profile of her on CSL Behring’s website.
Huggins’ appointment was revealed by a partner working for recruitment firm Odgers, which led the search, and the university has not yet issued an official statement.
Her recruitment is the latest high-profile move in innovation at Monash, after previous chief commercialisation officer Alastair Hick left at the end of last year to become CEO of multi-university venture fund Uniseed.
