DGIST Technology Holdings, the commercialisation arm of the Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology, is changing its leadership structure and appointing Choi Moon-jong as co-CEO.

He will work alongside JaeHyung Koo, who had been the sole person in charge up until now.

Going forward, Koo will focus on technology discovery and operational foundations, while Choi will work to attract investment and networking.

Notably, Choi will also look to establish university venture funds.

Choi was most recently the head of the Daegu Creative Economy Innovation Center, focused on regional startup development and bolstering the creative industries. He had joined the centre in January 2020.

Launched in 2022, DGIST Technology Holdings supports spinouts throughout their entire life cycle and promotes university-industry partnerships.

It provides a one-stop shop for what was previously a fragmented ecosystem.
