UM Ventures, the commercialisation arm of the University of Maryland, has promoted Felicia Metz to director after six and a half years serving as associate director.

UM Ventures is split across two University System of Maryland campuses: College Park and Baltimore, with Metz located in the former office. Her office is led by executive director Ken Porter and chief innovation officer Dean Chang.

In addition to her role with UM Ventures, Metz is joining the AUTM board of directors this month.

Metz has worked for the University of Maryland since January 2002, when she joined as an intellectual property associate. She became an IP manager in September 2010 and a senior IP manager in October 2011.

She became assistant director of the Office of Technology Commercialization in September 2016, also serving as the acting director from December 2017 to October 2018. She then became associate director of UM Ventures in December 2018.

Metz is also a member of the Maryland bar.
