NJIT promotes Ike Nwabufo to director of technology transfer

Ike Nwabufo

The New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has promoted Ike Nwabufo from IP licensing and marketing manager to director of technology transfer and intellectual property management.

He’s now responsible for the full lifecycle of intellectual property, developing strategic IP plans, leading licensing negotiations with industry partners and spinouts, and managing tech transfer office staff.

The promotion occurred last month, according to LinkedIn, though no official announcement appears to have been made by the university. Nwabufo did not respond to The Next Leap‘s request for comment.

Nwabufo joined NJIT in April 2024 as the programme manager and consultant for the university’s National Science Foundation Innovation Corps programme.

In June 2025, he was appointed IP licensing and marketing manager.

Before joining NJIT, Nwabufo spent the majority of his career with Castlegate Legal Consults as managing partner from July 2008 to September 2022.
