The University of North Texas’s associate vice president of innovation and commercialisation Michael Rondelli has retired after more than a decade leading technology transfer at the institution.

It is, however, not a full retirement as Rondelli revealed that he has co-founded an agentic AI startup. Further details have not yet emerged.

Rondelli worked in academic tech transfer for more than two decades, after an earlier career in corporate finance and venture capital in New York City.

From 2002 to 2014, he was the director of San Diego State University’s tech transfer office, before moving on to the University of Southern California (USC).

At USC, he served as director of licensing for the Stevens Center of Innovation for just over one year, joining the University of North Texas in December 2015.
