Nick McNaughton, co-founder of entrepreneurship training platform Campus Plus, has stepped down as the chief executive officer and will conclude his responsibilities as an employee by 29 August.

He is replaced as CEO on an interim basis by Ken Mahon , who was previously the director for platforms, programmes, and professional services, having rejoined Campus Plus in July 2024.

Mahon first worked for the organisation from September 2020 to July 2022, serving as the partner for Victorian universities.

McNaughton co-founded Campus Plus in 2019 with Zoe Fieldhouse, who continues to be the chief operating officer.

Campus Plus specialises in on-demand industry engagement, strategic partnership creation, researcher commercialisation training and mentoring, tech transfer, entrepreneurship training, unique IP identification, protection, development and commercialisation.

It manages the ten-year-long National Industry PhD Programme in Australia, created by the Australian government to train 1,300 PhD candidates in industry-research engagement.

McNaughton will remain a director with Campus Plus, but he will focus on his angel investment portfolio, serving on boards as a director and an adviser. He will also dedicate more time to his private life and to volunteering.

Before founding Campus Plus, McNaughton was the chief executive officer of the now-defunct ANU Connect Ventures, the university venture fund of the Australian National University.
