Stevens Institute of Technology hires Shintaro Kaido

Shintaro Kaido

Shintaro Kaido has joined the Stevens Institute of Technology as director of technology commercialisation and new ventures.

He most recently worked as a principal for New Cadence, providing advisory services to VC funds, early-stage deeptech companies and venture development organisations.

Shintaro brings deep experience, creativity, and a sense of urgency to the opportunity of connecting Stevens faculty—driven to make a deep societal impact—with a business world hungry for their research outcomes.

Edmund Synakowski, vice provost for research and innovation

Kaido was previously the vice provost for innovation and the executive director of Drexel Applied Innovation at Drexel University from July 2019 to November 2024. He had joined Drexel in September 2014 as its inaugural managing director of venture commercialisation.

From September 2022 to December 2024, Kaido was also a board member of the Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority, which oversees venture investments made by the US state of Pennsylvania.
