Simon Bond, who has led Bristol Innovations at the University of Bristol for the past three years, is moving to the University of Bath next week.

He will serve as the university’s key point of contact for the development around the Bath Riverside Innovation Quarter, collaborating with the institution’s network of partners on the city, national and international levels.

Bond will report to Jon Hunt, executive director at the University of Bath. Hunt himself moved from the University of Bristol, where he had been the executive director for research, enterprise and innovation, in September 2024.

“I am passionate about the power of innovation districts to deliver benefits for residents, the economy, and to generate high-quality impact. I look forward to working with colleagues and partners to unlock the full potential of Bath Riverside.”

Bond’s move to the University of Bath marks a return to an institution where he previously served as head of enterprise and innovation centre from 2003 to 2014.

From 2014 to November 2022, Bond was the innovation director of SETsquared, the enterprise partnership of the universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey.

“I’m delighted that Simon is joining us to help shape how we co-create transformative, mutualistic partnerships with the city and beyond — accelerating the delivery of meaningful impact.”
