UTokyo Innovation Platform, a venture capital arm of the University of Tokyo, has achieved the final close of its Academic Startup Acceleration (ASA) Fund thanks to commitments from Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation, the Jonan Shinkin Bank, and the Yamanashi Chuo Bank.
Through the ASA Fund, UTokyo IPC has concurrently announced an LP investment in the Red 1 Healthcare fund, which backs healthcare and life sciences startups from seed through to exit and is managed by Red Capital. Financial terms of this commitment have not been disclosed.
