Warwick Dawson has left the University of Newcastle, where he had been pro vice chancellor, industry and engagement, he announced today.
Dawson’s LinkedIn page indicates he departed in May, after nearly three and a half years with the Australian institution. He does not appear to have taken on a new challenge elsewhere yet.
“After three and a half wonderful years, it is a fond farewell to the incredible and unique Central Coast and Hunter region communities,” Dawson says. “A huge shout out to my exceptional team members and colleagues at the University of Newcastle. It was a career highlight and honour to work alongside you in delivering high impact and transformational outcomes.”
Before coming to the University of Newcastle, Dawson spent more than 12 years at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), starting out as director of research management before eventually becoming director of knowledge exchange in 2017.
He had already worked for UNSW as an executive officer, contracts, from 1994 to 1999. He then spent a year working for IT company NCR Australia before joining the University of Sydney, where was director of the research office from 2000 to 2010.
