UKRI appoints Simon Hepworth as interim chief development officer

Simon Hepworth

UK Research and Development, the public sector organisation responsible for funding Britain’s university research, has named Simon Hepworth as interim chief development officer.

Hepworth is taking on the additional responsibilities alongside his permanent role as director of knowledge exchange.

Hepworth joined UKRI in April last year after more than 16 years with Imperial College London, including as director of enterprise from September 2014.

As director of knowledge exchange, he has been responsible for building universities’ innovation capability, developing policies and programmes that enhance knowledge exchange outcomes nationwide.

UKRI commissioned the Tony Hickson review, published in February this year, which took an in-depth look at deepening university-investor links in the country.
