Colorado State University has promoted Amber Krummel to assistant vice president for research innovation, after a year and a half of serving as director of deep tech initiatives.
Krummel took on her new role on 1 July, though the university only made its announcement at the end of last week.
In her new position, Krummel has been tasked with leading university-wide strategy connecting research, entrepreneurship and economic development.
In her previous role, she focused on technologies including high-power lasers, fusion energy, and quantum science and technology, working closely with university, city, county, and state.
She has worked for Colorado State University since July 2010, when she joined as an assistant professor. She became an associate professor in July 2017, and a professor in May 2024.
She previously also served as a presidential fellow and faculty director for innovation liaison management, collaborating with tech transfer affiliate CSU Strata to develop the Lab-to-Life Program and to form the OVPR-CSU Strata Liaison Committee to strengthen research commercialisation and translation.
