AUC appoints Ayman Ismail as associate provost for innovation and entrepreneurship

The American University in Cairo (AUC) has promoted Ayman Ismail to associate provost for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Ismail will lead and manage the Technology, Research and Innovation Laboratory (TRI-LAB), and will establish it as AUC’s central hub for innovation, entrepreneurship, research translation, and industry engagement.

He will also be responsible for all IP and commercialisation activities, building a vibrant innovation ecosystem, and fostering strategic partnerships with domestic and international organisations.

Ismail, picked after an extensive international search, has been an associate professor and the Abdul Latif Jameel Endowed chair of entrepreneurship at AUC since 2011.

Since 2013, he has also been the founding director of the AUC Venture Lab and from 2017 to 2019 he was the director of the AUC Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation.

From 2019 to 2024, he served as founding managing director of the AUC Innovation Hub.

The Office of the Associate Provost for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a newly established unit at AUC, tasked with advancing innovation, entrepreneurship and research impact across the institution.
