Arizona State University is recruiting Luna Lu, currently the vice president of industry partnerships at Purdue University, as its vice president of innovation.
Lu will join ASU on 1 September, bringing to a close more than 11 years with Purdue, where she was a faculty member from July 2015 before taking on increasingly senior leadership roles from January 2022.
Lu is also the founder of Wavelogix, which has developed a real-time concrete strength monitoring system, and was its CEO from March 2021 to August 2025. She now serves as chair and chief technology officer.
At ASU, Lu will also serve as the managing director of the J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute. Her remit will include innovation, entrepreneurship, corporate and strategic partnerships, and economic development.
“My vision is to unlock the full potential of ASU’s faculty, staff, students and the broader community. Phoenix has emerged as a major technological hub — not just for semiconductors, but as a leader in AI, national security, robotics, sustainability and health care,” says Lu. “This vibrant ecosystem provides a massive opportunity for ASU to amplify its economic and social impact and develop exceptional talent and human capital.”
Lu will work with Sally Morton, ASU’s chief research and innovation officer and executive vice president of knowledge enterprise.
