The University of Waikato has launched a search for its next director of research and enterprise as Simon Lovatt prepares to step down after nearly a decade in the role.
Lovatt took on the position in January 2017. He had spent the previous 17 years at agricultural research institute AgResearch, including as executive director from August 2011.
Lovatt is planning to move overseas, according to LinkedIn, though further details could not be ascertained.
The Research and Enterprise Office’s remit includes support for research funding, contracts, IP management, commercialisation, and ethics approvals.
In November last year, the University of Waikato recruited Florian Spoerl as director of commercial and business partnerships.
