Carnegie Mellon University is promoting Meredith Meyer Grelli to inaugural vice provost for entrepreneurship and associate vice president, effective 1 July.
Grelli joined Carnegie Mellon as an adjunct professor for entrepreneurship in January 2020. She became an assistant professor of entrepreneurship and innovation in August 2021, and then associate professor in May 2025.
In November 2022, she became an entrepreneur-in-residence at the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship until she was named managing director in June 2025. The following month, she became the centre’s interim executive director.
She currently also serves as assistant dean of entrepreneurship initiatives in the School of Computer Science, and has been credited with significant contributions to the university’s entrepreneurship ecosystem.
She has overseen the creation of programmes like Deep Tech Venture-Ready and supported the CMU Startup Week.
In her new role, she will be tasked with turning CMU’s entrepreneurial initiatives into a cohesive ecosystem across campus, including the creation and implementation of a scalable, university-wide entrepreneurship curriculum.
