Goshen College is introducing a chief innovation officer to its executive leadership, appointing Raj Biyani to the role.
Biyani brings more than three decades of experience in technology and AI to the role, having spent a large part of his career to date at Microsoft.
At the software developer, he was the managing director of Microsoft IT’s India operations. Among his earlier achievements is the Microsoft App Store, of which he was the founding product manager.
Biyani graduated from Goshen College in 1992, and had already returned to his alma mater in 2025 to accept the Culture for Service Award.
Since then, he has volunteered his time to help Goshen College adapt to a world increasingly dominated by AI through guest lectures and a seminar for faculty and staff.
He was also the driving force behind the college’s AI Innovators Program, which has already led to 45 funded innovation projects.
It is with that strategic view that Goshen College is creating the new role: for the institution, it is a bet that AI will become a critical tool that enables human wisdom.
“At Goshen College, we are not limiting ourselves by just asking what AI can do, but rather what we should do with it and why.
“I am excited to contribute to this mission because those are questions worth dedicating the next chapter of my life to.”
Raj Biyani, chief innovation officer
