ANU appoints Stuart Wyithe as deputy VC for research and innovation

Australian National University has promoted Prof Stuart Wyithe to deputy vice chancellor for research and innovation. He took on his new role yesterday.

Wyithe was previously the director of the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics, a role he had held since joining ANU in April 2023.

Before this, he spent more than 20 years at the University of Melbourne, most recently serving as associate dean of research from July 2021 to April 2023.

He was also director of the ARC Centre of Excellence for All Sky Astrophysics in 3 Dimensions (Astro 3D) from April 2022 to April 2023. Astro 3D is a joint research centre led by ANU, and backed by the University of Melbourne, the University of Sydney, Swinburne University of Technology, the University of Western Australia and Curtin University.

The deputy vice chancellor for research and innovation is one of two deputy vice chancellors at ANU, the other being responsible for academic affairs. Wyithe will report to the acting provost and senior vice president, Prof Joan Leach.
