Trinity College Dublin promotes Vincent Coole to director of innovation

Vincent Coole

Trinity College Dublin has promoted Vincent Coole , previously the director of knowledge exchange, to the newly created role of director of innovation.

The Next Leap can reveal that Coole’s promotion is part of a restructuring that follows the departure of Michelle Olmstead , who had been the chief innovation and enterprise officer at Trinity College Dublin since May 2023.

The university has removed the role of chief innovation and enterprise officer and created the director of innovation position to take on the remit of managing Trinity Innovation.

Coole has been with the Irish university since November 2024, when he joined after three years with the University of Birmingham’s commercialisation subsidiary, where he had been the head of academic consultancy services.

Coole, who has held an RTTP certification since August 2020, had previously spent more than five years working for Oxford University Innovation from August 2016 to November 2021.
